Eight Consecutive Months of Profits for the Stock Exchanges of the Planet

Corrections ended in European markets after the end of the summer, due to restrictions on investor expectations from the news of inflation in the Eurozone, which broke a record of a decade (please read the analysis entitled «ECB – Inflation Brings Changes to Monetary Policy»).

However, despite any corrective moves, the main European stock indices have shown gains since the beginning of the year. The following chart based on the weekly closing of the stock market indices for the period (31 December 2020 – September 3, 2021) shows the upward trend of the European stock indices.

  • Euro area Euro Stoxx 50, for the specific period showed an increase of 18.28%.
  • France CAC40, for the specific period showed an increase of 20.51%.
  • Germany DAX, for the specific period showed an increase of 15.03%.
  • Italy FTSE / MB, for the specific period showed an increase of 17.24%.
  • Netherlands AEX, for the specific period showed an increase of 26.37%.
  • Spain IBEX 35, for the specific period showed an increase of 9.79%.
  • Poland WIG, for the specific period showed an increase of 24.82%.
  • Russia RTS $ terms, for the specific period showed an increase of 24.99%.
  • Switzerland SIM, for the specific period showed an increase of 15.40%.

The Eurozone consumer price index rose 3% in August from 2.2% in July, exceeding market forecasts, while structural inflation – excluding energy and food – rose 1.6%, the highest level since 2012.

The Non-Productive PMI in China fell to 47.5, marking a contraction for the first time since early 2020. It was a period of high gains for US stock markets. More specifically, the main stock indices of the USA, China, Japan, UK, Canada showed an upward trend for the period December 31, 2020 – September 3, 2021.   • United States S&P 500, for the specific period showed an increase of 21.49%.
  • United States NAS comp, for the specific period showed an increase of 19.41%.
  • China Shanghai Comp, for the specific period showed an increase of 3.13%.
  • China Shenzhen Comp, for the specific period showed an increase of 3.65%.
  • Japan Nikkei 225, for the specific period showed an increase of 6.14%.
  • Japan Topix, for the specific period showed an increase of 11.68%.
  • Britain FTSE 100, for the specific period showed an increase of 10.49%.
  • Canada S&P TSX, for the specific period showed an increase of 18.82%.

We note that gains in Chinese stock markets are marginally positive, with US stock markets breaking record earnings and then Canada.
